“…Furthermore, S. brachyanthera is traditionally accepted by local people for the treatment of various diseases and symptoms such as pain, inflammation and also used as diuretics for a long time (Chen & Meng, 2013). Our previous studies on this plant resulted in the isolation of more than 30 known compounds (Chen, Li, Meng, Li, & Li, 2011;Wang, Zhu, Meng, Li, & Li, 2012;Zhang, Zhu, Meng, Li, & Li, 2012) and some of them have proven to have potential antioxidant activities (Zhao, Guo, Zhang, Meng, & Sha, 2015). Nor-oleanane triterpenoid saponins, the main constituents of the plant, have been confirmed to possess diverse biological activities like hepatoprotective effects and gastrointestinal tract protection (Xu, Zheng, & Meng, 2013), which indicate its potential possibility to be a hepatoprotective agent in the health industry, and the additional values of the plant as economic crop in agriculture.…”
