Chemical profile, nutraceutical and anti-phytobacterial properties of the essential oil from Dalea foliolosa (Fabaceae)

Abstract: The present work describes the chemical composition of the leaf essential oils from the annual plant Dalea foliolosa, which was collected in three consecutive years (2014-2016). The amount of monoterpenes (69.5-84.6%) was higher to that of sesquiterpenes (10.3-22.9%) and aliphatic hydrocarbons (1-2.1%). Cryptone (22.3-30.6%) was the most abundant oxygenated monoterpene, followed by linalool (10.4-17.6%), caryophyllene oxide (4.6-15.3%), ascaridole (4.5-7.4%) and β-citronellol (3.8-5.6%). The hydrodistillated e… Show more

“…In this case, linalool (10-17%) and cryptone (22-30%) were the main constituents, together with a very relevant sesquiterpene fraction accounting for 10-23% of the whole amount. In this respect, caryophyllene oxide (5-15%) and α-cadinol (1-6%) were the most abundant sesquiterpenoids [22].…”

“…[21], D. foliosa (A. Gray) Barneby [22], and D. strobilacea Barneby [23], with the latter being the corresponding species. With regard to D. mutisii, only two studies were found on its nonvolatile metabolites, describing prenylated flavonoids as the main compounds [24,25].…”

“…p-Nitrophenylα-D-glucopyranoside and 4-nitrophenyl-4,6-ethylidene-a-D-maltoheptaoside were used as substrates for AG and AA, respectively. The hydrolytic activity of both enzymes was recorded at 405 nm as previously described (Villa-Ruano et al, 2017). The inhibitory examination on PL was determined by the hydrolysis of fatty acids from triolein at 340 nm (Villa-Ruano et al, 2013).…”
