Chemically Reduced Graphene Oxide with Crosslinked Shell Showing Enhanced Environmental Stability Using Thiol-grafted Pluronic

Abstract: Soluble RGO/Plu–S–S assembly with crosslinked Pluronic shell structure was formulated through noncovalent interaction between Plu–SH and RGO plates and simultaneous crosslinking of Plu–SH on RGO plates. While other RGO/aliphatic polymer assemblies show limited solubility only in aqueous media, RGO/Plu–S–S assembly showed enhanced environmental stability and organic solubility with the help of crosslinked shell structure.

“…Among noncovalent chemistry, π–π interaction is the most frequently attempted noncovalent interaction to formulate soluble RGO/π‐conjugated polymer assembly . While σ–π interaction is typically much weaker than π–π interaction, recent researches on noncovalent formulation of soluble RGO/polymer assembly have revealed that σ‐rich aliphatic polymers can be noncovalently anchored on RGO plate . From the fact that σ–π interaction is enhanced in the presence of long polyene, significant σ–π interaction between RGO plates and aliphatic polymers can be expected because graphene is a kind of conjugated 2D polyene .…”
