Abstract

Treatment of the allylfurfurylamines (I) with gaseous hydrogen chloride results in an intramolecular Diels‐Alder reaction, producing the intermediate tricyclic ammonium chlorides (II) which rearrange under loss of water, forming the isoindolinium salts (III).
