ChemInform Abstract: Diversity Oriented Synthesis: Substitution at C5 in Unreactive Pyrimidines by Claisen Rearrangement and Reactivity in Nucleophilic Substitution at C2 and C4 in Pteridines and Pyrido[2,3‐d]pyrimidines.

Abstract: Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines. -A number of diversified pyridopyrimidines and pteridines are prepared and their biological activity is screened. In the case of pyridopyrimidines, C5 substituted pyrimidines (III) are obtained in an unprecedented Claisen type rearrangement of 4-allylic ethers. Subsequent cyclization affords pyridopyrimidines (IV). Allylic esters (IX) give pyridopyrimidines (X) in a new TiCl4 catalyzed reaction. -(ADCOCK, J.; GIBSON, C. L.; HUGGAN, J. K.; SUCKLING*, C.
