“…The decolored sample (after standing at room temperature for 2 weeks) signal could be fitted with only W(VI) components, as shown in Figure . The W 4f 7/2 and W 4f 5/2 peaks were found at 36.0 and 38.1 eV, respectively, which agree with the range of values reported for WO 3 . The XPS data for the Cl 2p region (Supporting Information) showed complete absence of Cl. Hence, the solution processing resulted in complete solvolysis of the starting W–Cl bonds, improving the material purity.…”

“…As KBC has been used as support, the C 1s XPS spectrum shows C‐C bonding at 284.5 eV, C‐O linkage at 285.5 V and adsorbed water molecule on carbon at 287.4 eV, as shown in Figure 4C. Further in the spectrum of O 1s, the peak at 530.4 eV corresponds to metal‐oxygen linkage, 47 while the peaks at 531.9 and 533.2 correspond to oxygen bonded to carbon and adsorbed H 2 O, respectively. The core level spectrum of P 2p is shown in Figure S9, which demonstrates that P is present in the composite at very low concentration.…”

“…No diffraction peaks of U 3 Si 2 matrix were identified in the XRD pattern. 9,18 The crystallinity of the core is questionable, which was very likely caused by the ion damage during FIB sample preparation. 16 The lattice contraction in UO 2+x is primarily ascribed to increased concentration of interstitial oxygen and rearrangement of oxygen atoms to accommodate the additional oxygen atoms entering the lattice.…”

“…Similar beam-induced structure change in oxide nanostructures has been found in uranium oxide and other materials. 9,18 The crystallinity of the core is questionable, which was very likely caused by the ion damage during FIB sample preparation. The Ga signal in the EDS of the nanowires is strong, indicating the Ga + was implanted into the nanowires during FIB sample preparation.…”
