150ChemInform Abstract Acylation of 1,4:3,6-dianhydro-D-glucitol (I) with the anhydrides (II) in the presence of lead(II) yields the 5-endo-acylates (III) as the main products, whereas on heating without a catalyst, predominantly the 2-exo-acylates (IV) are formed. (IR-data).
