Chitosan from shrimp shells: A renewable sorbent applied to the clean-up step of the QuEChERS method in order to determine multi-residues of veterinary drugs in different types of milk

Abstract: Clean extracts are essential in LC-MS/MS, since the matrix effect can interfere in the analysis. Alternative materials which can be used as sorbents, such as chitosan in the clean-up step, are cheap and green options. “…Developed in 2003, the QuEChERS method (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) emerged with the objective of overcoming the practical limitations of the multi-residue extraction methods available at the time (Anastassiades et al, 2003a). Originally designed for the analysis of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables, the QuEChERS method has been applied to the analysis of different classes of contaminants and residues in different food matrices (Kupski e Badiale-Furlong, 2015;Cabrera et al, 2016;Arias et al, 2018).
