“…However, treatment of nonmetastatic disease is controversial. Some authors describe cases of success with only surveillance [1, 3, 8, 14, 15]. Some authors suggested that “patients with choriocarcinoma confined to the placenta with rapid decrease of serum hCG after the removal of the placenta do not need chemotherapy, but only fetal and maternal close follow-up” [16].…”

“…The concentrations of human β‐chorion gonadotropin (β‐hCG) in serum increase in advanced stages of choriocarcinomas (Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics; FIGO stages) and is useful for diagnosis and monitoring effects of chemotherapy on progression of choriocarcinomas (Stevens et al, ). Based on the FIGO score of choriocarcinoma patients, the first line treatment is defined as single agent systemic chemotherapy or a polychemotherapy regimen with etoposide, methotrexate and actinomycin D with cyclophosphamide plus vincristine (EMA‐CO) (Faes et al, ; Stevens et al, ). Although survival rates in women who are diagnosed with choriocarcinoma is greater than 90%, development of new therapeutic agents is crucial for enhancement of curative value and minimization of side effects of treatments for choriocarcinoma.…”

“…Few cases of chorangiocarcinoma have been reported in literature. In all of the reported cases no malignant metastases were reported (43) . Confirmation of continuity of feeding vessels with the fetal circulation by Doppler ultrasound can exclude other pathological conditions like placental hemorrhage, maternal lakes, or degenerated myoma (16) .…”
