Abstract:This paper describes solution electronic spectral properties and solvatochromic behavior of polydiacetylenes obtained from the solid state polymerization of a series of asymmetric quinolyl substituted diacetylenes with (CH 2 )nnBCMU as the other substituent (where n = 2, 3, 4, and 9). The pristine polymers, upon dissolution in chloroform, exhibit blue shifted absorption. The addition of hexane to chloroform solutions of the polymers causes dramatic chromic changes and development of red shifted structured spec… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
