Chuva de sementes e regeneração natural sob três espécies arbóreas em uma floresta em processo de restauração

Abstract: -(Seed rain and natural regeneration under three woody species in a forest in process of restoration). The present study describes the composition of the natural regeneration and seed rain under three early successional tree species -Centrolobium tomentosum Guill. ex Benth. (Fabaceae), Cordia myxa L. (Boraginaceae) and Melia azedarach L. (Meliaceae) in a 15 year-old mixed plantation. Fifteen individuals of each species were selected, and under each crown two seed traps (1 m 2 each; total of 90 seed traps) were… Show more

“…Values are similar to other studies also carried out in riparian areas, ranging from 288 to 1,804.2 seeds/m² (MARIMON; FELFILI, 2006;PENHALBER;MANTOVANI, 1997). The total number of collected propagules resembles other previous seed rain researches already made in gallery forests (LAGOS; MARIMON, 2012;GANDOLFI, 2006), which shows a pattern in seedling numbers from seed rain in these areas, which is responsible for saving about a third of botanical diversity only inthe Brazilian Cerrado (SANO et al, 2008).…”

“…A maior produção de sementes foi obtida no final do período seco e início da fase chuvosa, resultados também reportados em outras formações florestais (PENHALBER; MANTOVANI, 1997;GROMBRONE-GUARATINI;RODRIGUES, 2002;ARAUJO et al, 2004;VIEIRA;GANDOLFI, 2006;LAGOS;MARIMON, 2012).…”

“…Medicinal properties of its leaves, bark and roots are known (Wu et al, 1998). In Brazil, its natural regeneration was related as predominant in a recovered forest (Vieira and Gandolfi, 2006), indicating its invasive potential. This species is known in Australia as a weed that is common in Christmas Island vegetation (Green et al, 2004) and as an invasive species in Hawaii (Space and Imada, 2004).…”
