“…These items are included in school climate measures and may be capturing other features of a supportive childhood school environment (i.e., caring relationships with school staff, a sense of belonging at school, anti-bullying policies). Our findings reinforce prior evidence that a supportive and safe school climate is associated with improved mental health outcomes and reduced substance use in childhood ( Areba et al, 2021 ; Dudovitz et al, 2017 ; Guzmán-Ramírez et al, 2021 ; Ko et al, 2023 ; Lester & Cross, 2015 ; Palma et al, 2021 ; Singla et al, 2021 ; Wong et al, 2021 ). There is also evidence that these findings extend into adulthood - positive student-teacher relationships are associated with improved physical and mental health and less substance use; supportive childhood peer relationships are associated with lower depressive symptoms; and school connectedness in adolescence show a protective association against emotional distress, suicidal ideation, STI diagnosis, and substance use in adulthood ( Kim, 2021 ; Steiner et al, 2019 ).…”

Otros estudios, señalan a los 13 a 14 años (Chávez-Vera y Guzmán-Ramírez et al, 2021;Rial et al, 2018;Simón et al, 2019;Vásquez et al, 2014); seguido de los 14 y 15 años (Navalón y Ruiz-Callado, 2017;Reyes y Khenti, 2019;Rojas et al, 2020;Saravia et al, 2014). Finalmente, el consumo de sustancias se concentra en edades de 12 a 17 años 24.4 % y de 18 a 24 años 31.8 % (Andrade-Salazar et al, 2022).…”
