Abstract: An analysis of literature data on climatic-geophysical factors of the Kola Arctic region has been conducted. Emotional well-being of preschool children that live in extreme climatic conditions is difficult to maintain. Emotional well-being is a basis of psychological health that manifests itself as positive emotional states in social environment. It presupposes a stable emotional sphere when interacting with the world, low anxiety, emotional comfort, and adequate self-esteem. Climatic and geographical factors of the Russian Arctic may inhibit the development of the emotional well-being in preschool children. However, some psychological and pedagogical conditions may neutralize the negative impact of environmental factors. They include psycho-emotional monitoring, flexible school interior, and health-saving technologies in the academic process. The authors developed a model of ecological and psychological support for preschool children living in polar regions. It is based on interaction with plants and animals as a source of positive emotions. The model of environmental and psychological support for emotional well-being of preschoolers living in the Russian Arctic justifies the feasibility of health-saving technologies as part of an active cooperation between a preschool institution and a botanical garden.

The Murmansk region is characterized by a number of speciﬁc climatic and geographical features: a polar night, a long snowy period, an unstable geo-heliophysical setting. All of the above factors have a negative impact on children with disabilities. The article describes the application of the method of analysis of heart rate variability to assess the dynamic changes in the functional state of the body of preschool children with general speech underdevelopment, as well as with stuttering. The work was carried out on the Kola Peninsula in the period of the exit from the «polar night», when exacerbations of somatic diseases are most often recorded in children, and there is a decrease in the immunological reactivity and adaptation potential. The main purpose of this work was to conduct research on the selection of methods for the functional diagnosis of a child’s body in the Kola North to track the state of the state during the educational process on the basis of a preschool institution during the most unfavorable periods. Functional diagnostics included weekly dynamic measurements of the functional status of children of both groups on a non-invasive cardiac rhythmograph, followed by mathematical processing of the main cardiorhythmographic parameters. The use of heart rate variability analysis makes it possible to identify differences in the functional state of preschool children with various speech disorders associated with the nosological structure of the defect. In addition, the use of this method allows you to track changes in the state of children in the course of the educational process in preschool institutions and to adjust the ﬂow of information, taking into account the individual characteristics and adaptive capacities of children with speech disorders.

Quality of Life of Military Personnel Serving Under Contract in the Kola Polar Region

Introduction. The paper presents the results of a research of quality of life of the military serving under the contract in the Kola Polar region. The research was conducted using the World Health Organization Quality of Life brief version questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF). The purpose of this work was to assess the quality of life and identify the factors adversely affecting the quality of life. The sociological questionnaire study in a group of 209 servicemen serving under the contract in the Kola Polar region was made. Results of the study showed lack of dependence of the general assessment of quality of life on a military rank, income level, age, education, marital status and the number of children in family, and at the same time, statistically significant correlation in the presence of diseases or under any treatment in the last two weeks prior to the survey in a respondent. The analysis of the general assessment of quality of life revealed the highest level in the sphere of micro-social support — 12,2 points (81,3% of the maximum level), and the lowest level in the sphere of social well-being — 26,0 points (65% of the maximum level). Answers to questions concerning existence of an opportunity for rest and entertainments and about availability of medical care are scored the lowest — 2,1 and 3,1 points, respectively. Answers to questions concerning state of environment, satisfaction with monetary pay and conditions in the place of residence were also scored low — 3,3 points. Assessment of quality of life using the WHOQOL-BREF can be used in order to identify and neutralize negative factors of military service and conditions of life and also for improvement of measures for maintaining health, high performance of military work, and motivation in servicemen under the contract in the Arctic zone.
