Clinical and Laboratory Studies with Rubella Vaccines in Adults

Abstract: Summary: Three live attenuated rubella vaccines were tested in adult volunteers. Clinical reactions were mild, but were more noticeable in vaccinated non-immune subjects than in control subjects. With the exception of two individuals, all of the remaining 54 subjects developed an immune response; the level of antibodies found was somewhat lower than that resulting from natural infection. “…No presente trabalho só foi considerado o poder imunogênico e o grau de atenuação. As averiguações no sentido de despistar reações clínicas pós-vacinais não levaram a resultados que permitissem confirmar observações de outros autores, tanto no que respeita adenopatias, febre e "rash" cutâneo 13 , 29 , 41 , quanto artralgias 3 , 34 , uma vez que nenhum dos indivíduos vacinados apresentou quaisquer queixas a respeito. “…Studies on immunity to rubella have been made on women in closed communities (Dudgeon et al, 1969a), and a high proportion (about 35 %) of junior nursing staff in one hospital were known to be susceptible to rubella (Dudgeon et al, 1969b).
