“…Interestingly, Sitzman et al [31] noted an NPV of 87.8% for facial fracture when using the Wisconsin criteria; the NPV for fractures requiring operative management was 100% [31]. For our cohort, the absence of any abnormal facial examination findings had a 96.4% NPV for the exclusion of fracture and also did not fail to identify any fracture requiring operative repair.…”

“…In a relatively recent study, Sitzman et al [31] sought to create a clinical decision instrument to assist physicians in the ordering of maxillofacial CT in the setting of trauma. Five specific physical examination criteria (referred to as the "Wisconsin criteria") were identified: bony stepoff or instability, malocclusion, periorbital swelling or contusion, tooth absence, and GCS score of less than 14.…”

“…sugerują badanie u chorych z uszkodzeniem warg, nosa i jamy ustnej oraz ze stłuczeniem okolicy okołooczodołowej [24]. Obecnie największą akceptację zyskały kryteria podane przez członków Uniwersytetu Wisconsin, a ustalone na podstawie badań dużej grupy pacjentów, w tym dzieci [25]. Objawy sugerujące złamanie twarzoczaszki (ZTC) notowano u 29 dzieci.…”

“…W materiale Sitzmana i wsp. 42% chorych z ZTC miało obrażenia OUN [25]. W badaniu własnym obrażenia mózgowia stwierdzono u 33% chorych z ZTC, co uzasadnia wykonywanie TKGbK u dzieci z objawami klinicznymi ZTC.…”

“…Any patient with a bony step off or instability, periorbital swelling or contusion, Glasgow Coma Scale score less than 14, malocclusion, or tooth absence is at high risk for an associated facial fracture and CT scanning is warranted. 11 Although patients with traumatic facial injuries often present with extremely disfigured appearances, their injuries are seldom life-threatening. Treat each patient who presents with significant traumatic facial injuries as a trauma patient in accordance with ATLS protocol.…”
