Clinical Features and Prognosis Analysis of Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Multicenter Retrospective Study Over a Decade of Patients in China

Abstract: General clinical features were comparable with those of Western patients, whereas therapeutic outcomes were slightly inferior. The novel risk assessment model showed potential as a more powerful prognostic tool by identifying 3 subsets of patients with significantly distinct outcomes, which warrants further validations.

“…This is in line with an epidemiologic study by the WHO, which stated that Hodgkin lymphoma is more often found in men.1 This study also confirms the findings of Wen-Yan Yu, et al, who obtained a ratio of Hodgkin lymphoma incidence of 1.67:1 between men and women. 22 Statistical analysis indicated an insignificant correlation between microvessel density and gender (p=0.88), with a tendency for higher microvessel density in men compared to women. This is in line with Panico et al and Makboul et al, who stated that there is no statistically significant correlation between gender and microvessel density.…”

“…However, the data from two Chinese cohorts did not reveal a comparable conclusion, where younger patients with HL did not necessarily have better FFP than elderly patients. 10,21 Diverse age distribution among different study cohorts could be one explanation for this data discrepancy. Approximately 20% of patients were aged ≥60 years in the current study.…”

“…This sustained response and survival rates over the years underscore the e cacy of the standard treatment of ABVD for HL in the Saudi population, which is similar to Western and Eastern countries. 9,13,14,15,16,17 It is essential to continue monitoring and analyzing these trends as newer combination regimens, such as AAVD, emerge. 9 In our study, only a modest 6% of patients were treated with AAVD, making it challenging to derive meaningful insights regarding its correlation with response and survival rates.…”
