Introduction: Palliative care is a special service particularly in the cases of chronic disease. The scope of palliative care includes populations with old age, chronic diseases, and processes of facing death. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the health system, including palliative care.The purpose of this study is to explain nursing palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This paper is result of a literature review. The data bases used were Scopus, Springerlink, Science direct. The search is limited to publications in 2020-2022, open acces, and English language. Then selected using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) diagram and obtained 13 articles. Result: Palliative care as a special care aims to reduce suffering and improve the quality of life of patient and family. Palliative care can be applied to acute hospital, community, nursing care, as well as residential care homes and hospices. The goal of palliative care is to prevent and reduce suffering in any form, including reducing pain through early identification, correct assessment, as well as treatment of pain and other problems. Many barries are felt by patients and families in accessing health services during the COVID-19 pandemic due to social restrictions. Conclusion:Palliative care requires the involvement of various parties, including the government, health workers, and the community to overcome various barriers. During the COVID-19 pandemic in palliative care, special health policies are needed that are able to maintain the health status of patients so that the patient's illness does not get worse.

Background People with neurodegenerative disease and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) may have an elevated risk of acquiring severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and may be disproportionally affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) once infected. Aims To review all eligible studies and quantify the strength of associations between various pre-existing neurodegenerative disorders and both SARS-CoV-2 susceptibility and COVID-19 illness course and outcome. Method Pre-registered systematic review with frequentist and Bayesian meta-analyses. Systematic searches were executed in PubMed, Web of Science and preprint servers. The final search date was 9 January 2023. Odds ratios (ORs) were used as measures of effect. Results In total, 136 primary studies (total sample size n = 97 643 494), reporting on 268 effect-size estimates, met the inclusion criteria. The odds for a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result were increased for people with pre-existing dementia (OR = 1.83, 95% CI 1.16–2.87), Alzheimer's disease (OR = 2.86, 95% CI 1.44–5.66) and Parkinson's disease (OR = 1.65, 95% CI 1.34–2.04). People with pre-existing dementia were more likely to experience a relatively severe COVID-19 course, once infected (OR = 1.43, 95% CI 1.00–2.03). People with pre-existing dementia or Alzheimer's disease were at increased risk for COVID-19-related hospital admission (pooled OR range: 1.60–3.72). Intensive care unit admission rates were relatively low for people with dementia (OR = 0.54, 95% CI 0.40–0.74). All neurodegenerative disorders, including MCI, were at higher risk for COVID-19-related mortality (pooled OR range: 1.56–2.27). Conclusions Our findings confirm that, in general, people with neurodegenerative disease and MCI are at a disproportionally high risk of contracting COVID-19 and have a poor outcome once infected.

The Evolution, Hotspots, and Trends in Research on Facilities of Combined Medical and Nursing Care for the Elderly

With the significant increase in global ageing and its derivative risks, governments and academic communities have been widely concerned with research on facilities of combined medical and nursing care for the elderly (FCMNCE). Using Citespace and VOSviewer bibliometric software, in this paper, we explore the evolutionary phases, hotspots, and trends in research on FCMNCE. First, the concept and connotation of FCMNCE are clarified. Secondly, based on a bibliometric analysis of the number of annual publications, disciplinary distribution, publication sources, and country distribution, we classify research on FCMNCE into four phases: the exploratory phase of influencing factors, the constructive phase of combined medical and nursing care patterns, the improvement phase of life quality, and the synergistic development phase of science and technology. Thirdly, based on a bibliometric analysis of keyword clustering, annual overlap, and burst keywords, the research hotspots of FCMNCE are identified. Finally, we predicts that future research on FCMNCE will be characterized by the trends of smart elderly facilities, smart medical services, and public health risks. Our conclusion can help researchers to understand the research status and development trends of FCMNCE and select future research directions based on their disciplinary background.
