Abstract: The significantly higher frequency of surgical interventions and immunosuppressive therapy suggests that granuloma formation is associated with a more severe disease course during the first years of CD.

“…It has also been reported that the need of immunosuppressive therapy and surgical interventions were significantly more frequent in the patients with granuloma. 41 More patients with neuronal inflammation in the proximal resection margin developed symptomatic recurrence of their CD. At the time when this work was performed, only one-fifth of patients had an ileocolonoscopy to assess for endoscopic recurrence when they present with symptoms of clinical relapse.…”

“…23 The granuloma has long been considered as a histologic hallmark for CD, which is identified between 9% and 60% of patients with CD. [24][25][26][27][28] The prognostic significance of the granuloma remains unknown although many investigators have attempted to link the presence of granulomas with postoperative recurrence 29 and disease severity. 27,28 However, the association between the presence of granulomas and the recurrence of CD remains controversial.…”

“…A felnőttek körében elvégzett vizsgálatok szerint a granulomás betegeknél gyakoribb az extraintestinalis manifesztáció (EIM), a perianalis betegség, az extenzív kiterjedés, a penetráló forma és a sebészeti beavatkozások igénye [4,5,6,7]. Gyermekkorban alig néhány vizsgálatban elemezték a granulomák előfordulását, esetleges szerepét a klinikai megje lenésben.…”

“…Hazánk-ban Molnár és munkatársai egy prospektív vizsgálat keretében tanulmányozták a granulomák klinikai jelentőségét [5]. Ötvenhat újonnan diagnosztizált felnőtt béltraktusának minden szegmenséből vettek biopsziát, így a betegek 44,6%-ában találtak granulomát.…”
