“…Pain on injection or movements are also associated with other drugs currently administered during induction and maintenance of anaesthesia (10–14). To eliminate any confounding contribution of the IV cannula itself or other drugs given intravenously during anaesthesia, the patients received rocuronium through a 20‐gauge IV cannula exclusively used for this injection and immediately removed in the PACU.…”

“…Comparing the findings from the use of 8 per cent solution with those reported by Hewitt and associates (1966) and O'Donnell, Hewitt and Dundee (1969), it would appear that this concentration causes a higher incidence of venous sequelae than do clinical doses of thiopentone or methohexitone, but that the incidence is similar to that noted after injection of propanidid. moderate hypocapnia should be maintained after discontinuing first the halothane and subsequently the nitrous oxygen preferably until the pre-operative level of consciousness has been regained.…”

“…lorazepam was studied in patients who received no other drug through the same vein and in whom the 4-mg ml" 1 solution was injected without dilution. These patients were visited on the 2nd or 3rd day after operation and the results are presented according to the method described by Hewitt and others (1966) and O'Donnell, Hewitt and Dundee (1969). This gives the incidence of phlebitis, thrombosis and thrombophlebitis.…”
