Clinicopathological and prognostic value of Ki-67 expression in oral malignant melanoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract: Background. Ki-67 is one of the new biological markers with clinical value in the pathology and prognosis of oral melanoma. It is a nuclear protein involved in regulating cell proliferation. Some studies have suggested an association between Ki-67 and poor survival in patients with oral melanoma. This systematic review was undertaken to clarify this issue. Methods. Databases of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched using relevant English keywords from 1988 to April 2022. “…An increase in the rate of CD4+ cell proliferation may indicate an active immune response against diverse infections. Ki-67 is routinely evaluated as a proliferation marker [17,18]. Figure 2 shows that SEB induced a similar frequency of CD4+Ki-67+ T cells as the positive control (PMA/IO), confirming that SEB was efficient in activating CD4+ T cells.…”

“…Recently, Ki-67 has been demonstrated to have a significant prognostic impact on various cancers through a meta-analysis. 37–39 Moltajaei et al showed that Ki-67 upregulation might predict dismal prognostic outcomes in patients with oral melanoma in a meta-analysis including six studies. 37 According to Li et al , Ki-67 upregulation may be a useful biomarker of the risk of recurrent gastrointestinal stromal tumour transformation in a meta-analysis involving 1682 patients.…”
