“…Yet, a statistically significant difference in novel HAstV prevalence according to the month of sample collection could be observed here, with January-April months being the ones with the highest detection rate. This seasonality is in agreement with the study of Jacobsen et al 30 , although the latter focused on both novel and classic HAstV. www.nature.com/scientificreports www.nature.com/scientificreports/ The novel HAstV positivity rate among control subjects was 4%.…”

“…The highest incidence rate in this study has matched only with Mitab, 2013 study (6), this may be explained the high accuracy and sensitivity of the RT-qPCR assay in the detection of these viruses and this matched with what mentioned in other previous studies (14,25). In comparison to other global molecular based studies from Italy (11), Germany (20), lebanon (38), Egypt (4) and Iran (26). The prevalence of HAstV in this study is the highest, telling that this virus exists, flowing and contributing expressively to gastroenteritis in different Iraqi provinces.…”

“…The peak from December 2015 to April 2016 was much higher than the previous one. Two peaks of HAstV detection rate were observed in Germany, between February and May and between September and December (Jacobsen et al, 2018). In Korea, the pattern of seasonal distribution varied from one year to another (Kim et al, 2019).…”
