Among them, Tetrasphaera is a PAOs that uses organic matter as a carbon source to remove phosphorus through a fermentation pathway (Zhao et al, 2022); Aquabacterium belongs to denitrifying bacteria, and the content of organic carbon source directly determines its denitrification performance (Zhang et al, 2022); Saccharimonadales can hydrolyze organic P, but not without an organic carbon source (Wang et al, 2022); and unclassified_ Saprospiraceae play a crucial role in the degradation of organic compounds in AS processes (Carluccio et al, 2023).
