“…Other i n v e s t i g a t o r s h a v e also failed to find evidence of active granulomatous infec tions, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma, or sarcoidosis in t h e i r p a t i e n t s with C o g a n ' s syndrome. 1,3,4,8,12,13,17,18,22,26,32,34,35,37,41 A single isolate of Ascaris in one patient was followed by negative examinations, 8 and other investigations for gas trointestinal parasites, 1,12 Trichinella, Λ,3,12 and Toxoplasma 3^73340 have been negative.…”

“…We were unable to find serologic evidence of recent C. trachomatis infection in one of them or of exposure to psittacosis in a third patient who had active Cogan's syndrome. Other investigators have also failed to find evidence of chlamydial infections, 3,4,8,17 including ornithosis and lymphogranuloma venereum.…”
