Cold-Sprayed Composite Metal-Fluoropolymer Coatings for Alloy Protection against Corrosion and Wear

Abstract: Results of studying the properties of composite fluoropolymer-containing coatings formed by the cold spray (CS) method on the surface of constructional steel are presented. Different ways of protective coating formation are proposed. The composition of coatings was studied using SEM/EDX analysis. The incorporation of super-dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene (SPTFE) into the coating increases the corrosion resistance of the copper-zinc-based cold-sprayed coating. Analysis of the electrochemical properties obtain… Show more

“…Several methods are known for applying such protective layers, for example, sol-gel technology [ 24 , 25 ], layer-by-layer deposition (polyelectrolyte multilayers) [ 26 , 27 ], hydrothermal deposition [ 28 , 29 ], plasma spraying [ 30 , 31 ], laser cladding [ 32 ], electrochemical [ 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 ] and chemical [ 37 , 38 , 39 ] deposition, cold sprayed deposition, etc. [ 40 ]. However, these methods have disadvantages, such as process duration, the need for multiple applications, in some cases, the shrinkage of the final coating, as well as the use of a large number of solvents.…”

“…The investigation into corrosion protection for metals and alloys has gained significant attention in recent years [ 27 ]. Various polymers, both thermoplastic and thermoset, including fluoropolymers, polypropylene, polyurethane, epoxy/silane, and polyetherimide, have proven effective as coatings for corrosion prevention [ 28 ].…”
