Collaborative management of web ontology data with flexible access control

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThe creation and management of ontology data on web sites (e.g. instance data that is used to annotate web pages) is important technical support for the growth of the semantic web. This study identifies some key issues for web ontology data management and describes an ontology data management system, called robinet, to perform the management. This paper presents the structure of the system and introduces a Web ontology data management model that enables a flexible access control mechanism. This … Show more

“…2 In this article, the ontology language OWL DL is used in the matching process. As declared by W3C, OWL DL is a sublanguage of OWL, and supports those users who want maximum expressiveness without losing computational completeness (all entailments are guaranteed to be computed) and decidability (all computations will finish in finite time) of reasoning systems.…”

“…DSSs include knowledge-based systems. A knowledge-driven DSS provides specialised problem-solving expertise stored as facts, rules, procedures or in similar structures [1][2][3]. The use of ontologies and semantic mapping software in DSSs can reduce the loss of semantics (meaning) in information exchange among heterogeneous applications like e-commerce, e-business or web services.…”

“…The uses of ontology are a semantic description of vocabulary for complex processes, and that requires a careful study of specific knowledge. 2,3 An ontology is distributed as well as shared for utilization, and tools of ontology are provided interoperability. The user application is programmed to improve the utilization of the configuration with an ontology-based service.…”
