Color, lightness, chroma, hue, and translucency adjustment potential of resin composites using CIEDE2000 color difference formula

Abstract: Objective To evaluate color, lightness, chroma, hue, and translucency adjustment potential of resin composites using CIEDE2000 color difference formula. Methods Three resin composites (Filtek Universal, Harmonize, and Omnichroma) were tested. Two types of specimens were prepared: an outer base shade with an inner hole filled with test shades and single‐composite specimens of all shades. Spectrorradiometric reflectances measurements and subsequent CIELAB color coordinates and translucency parameter (TP) were pe… Show more

“…27 Therefore, while color science theories explain some aspects of the color adjustment of RCs that are observed in dental practice, the T A B L E 1 List and summary of articles included in this review in chronological order The difference between visual and instrumental score of dual discs compared to single discs Color shifting rate = slope between coronal and cervical parts at enamel/composite border Color adjustment was influenced by direction of enamel rods (incisal more than cervical). Light illumination direction affected the degree of color adaptation Durand and colleagues 2020 29 Term used Specimen design Method Device Calculation…”

“…While there have been several studies of the color and translucency of dental resinbased composites (RBCs) for direct restoration as well as indirect dental ceramic materials [15][16][17][18][19], only limited information is available about those of 3D printable dental materials. Revilla-León et al measured the color of 3D printable dental materials and compared them with those of conventional acrylic resin-based interim materials [20].…”

“…At present, themajority of the published work on single and group shade dental resin composites focus mainly on their esthetic properties [6,7,[16][17][18]20,25,26]. There is very limited published work available in the literature regarding any other physical or mechanical properties of these materials [15,21].…”

“…There are several papers in the currentliterature assessing the esthetic qualities of single and group shade dental resin composite materials [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. However, the literature discussing the physical and mechanical properties of these materials is limited at this time [15,21].…”
