“…Survival rate was reported as 69% by Barrenetxea and 66% by Talbot et al which is a significant improvement from 51% as reported by Winer in 1957. 2,15,22,23 Clayton et al reported that risk of adverse outcomes such as low birth weight and preterm delivery is not significantly different in ongoing intrauterine component of heterotopic pregnancies as compared to isolated IUP. 22 Though some studies have suggested a guarded prognosis for very early intervention < 6 weeks or late intervention > 8 weeks, [24] the overall prognosis for the intrauterine pregnancy is excellent as published in literature.…”

“…The current literature on EP includes multiple papers identifying predictors of MTX success (3). MTX treatment is more successful if the case meets the following three conditions: [1] the gestation is less than 6 weeks, [2] the mass of the EP is smaller than 3 cm, and [3] the hCG level is less than 15,000 IU/mL (4). On the other hand, Lipscomb et al reported that the initial level of hCG is the best prognostic indicator of MTX success.…”

“…Heterotopic pregnancy, i.e., the coexistence of an intrauterine and an extrauterine pregnancy, a rare event (1:30,000) in spontaneous cycle [9,15], has become more frequent (1:2,600, 1:6778) with the increased use of ovulation induction [2,7] and even more (1.1%) in patients undergoing assisted reproduction techniques [13]. We report one of the first cases described in the literature of heterotopic pregnancy treated by laparoscopic surgery in pregnancy.…”
