Application of array processing principle and techniques in acoustic camera is a challenging research problem. Discussions about some of those challenges are given in this paper. Theoretical background of acoustical near-field and far-field beamforming is highlighted in this paper. Generic versions of near-field and far-field delay and sum of beamformers are discussed. Those versions are the basis for further research steps. Some experimental results of near-field beamforming are presented using realized microphone array and multichannel acquisition system.
