Combining MDE and Scrum on the rapid prototyping of web information systems

Abstract: Rapid application prototyping (RAP) is recommended to obtain quick feedback from clients, allowing the validation of software requirements before acceptance tests. In this regard, model-driven engineering (MDE) and agile methods are two important approaches that suggest the use of techniques for RAP. Some fundamental differences between them exist: MDE focuses on software reuse through annotated system models while agile methods recommend the use simpler models to achieve quick feedback from clients. In order … Show more

“…Em nossos estudos preliminares, se ofereceu soluções voltadas para problemas técnicos na implementação do MDEaaS [Basso et al 2013, Basso et al 2015, Basso et al 2016, Basso et al 2017b. Porém, estas contribuições não tratam adequadamente de questões mais voltadas para negócio e também não ajudam com critérios de informações que se deve prover aos possíveis clientes para a tomada de decisão na transferência de tecnologia como composição de sistemas.…”

For example, conducting new investigations for other Software Engi-neering needs than toolchain, such as complements for disruptive business models including smart contracts and blockchain as a services; • Requirements for Software Engineering technology transfer in MDE as a Service.…”

“…Through the implementation of these concepts, flexible resources are created, composed and introduced in one or more contexts for MDE adoption within one or more coopetition blocks. In this sense, we defined "MDE as a Service" as a Software Engineering that requires the application of these concepts to promote coopetition through reuse of MDE assets in inter-organizational contexts [Monteiro et al 2014, Basso et al 2013a, Basso et al 2015, Basso et al 2016b. As illustrated in the center of Figure 1, resources (core assets) are used by more than one target company for MDE adoption (Company A and B).…”

“…F.P.Basso and al. presents an approach that combines a Model Driven Architecture approach and Agility in the context of Rapid Application Prototyping (RAP) [10]; RAP allows the validation of software requirements before acceptance tests which in order to obtain a quick feedback from clients. This approach aims to take account of the agility principles in the context of MDA based on RAP methodology to generate front end and models based on MVC pattern, the implementation of this approach was applied on the generation of the Web Information System based on scrum methodology and MDE practices.…”
