Comfort and Mechanical Properties of Polyester/Bamboo and Polyester/Cotton Blended Knitted Fabric

Abstract: The mechanical and comfort properties of polyester/bamboo and polyester/cotton knitted fabrics were studied. Four different ratios, P/B 65/35, P/B 50/50, P/B 35/65, P/B 20/80, P/C 65/35, P/C 50/50, P/C 35/65, P/C 20/80 of both blends were produced by mixing at the blow room stage. Then yarns of equal count Ne 20 were made on a ring spinning machine, and a knitted fabric was produced on a single jersey weft knitting machine. It was observed that by increasing bamboo and cotton fiber content in the blends, yarn… Show more

“…However, PC blended fabric demonstrates higher bursting strength than PL blended fabrics. The bursting strength of PL blended fabrics especially with 50 to 100% proportion of lyocell fibres is comparable or even more than previous studies related to cotton and its blended fabrics (Coruh and Çelik, 2015;Hussain, Bin Younis, Usman, Hussain, & Ahmed, 2015;Tausif, et al, 2015).…”

“…The data in Table (1) demonstrate that the zone of inhibition was recorded. The results of untreated samples show clear growth of bacteria under them with no zone of inhibition, but treated samples inhibit bacterial growth has shown in figure (2). It is clear that increasing the concentration of citric acid increases the nitrogen content of the treated fabric (express as % total nitrogen).…”

“…Bamboo fiber is softer than cotton. It has a much better moisture absorption and air permeability with various micro gaps and micro holes (Hussain et al, 2015;Das, 2018;Gökdal, 2007). Bamboo fiber garments can absorb and evaporate human sweat in a split second, as if they were breathing.…”
