Scholars within the field of Leadership-as-Practice (LAP) address the way that individuals ‘transcend their own immediate embeddedness’ to achieve volitional coherence known as collaborative agency. The process of collaborative agency is described as inseparable from LAP, yet it remains a nascent field of enquiry requiring additional empirical research. This article presents an investigation of collaborative agency through an abductive case study using video ethnography and interviews. To interpret our results, we turn to the Japanese ideogram for ‘place’, known as ‘Ba’. Rather than a physical reality, Ba is considered an existential space in which leadership groups weave together to create and ripen collaborative agency. Ba guides us to look across and around a group and its socio-material practice. We find that collaborative agency is trans-subjective in nature and sits on a spectrum on which we identify the outer reaches, from one end where Ba is woven through to the other end, called Collapse. We suggest that the place of leadership is within the warp and weft of collaborative agency, including but not limited to a special place woven in Ba where collaborative agency is high and where the group reports they are able to transcend their individualism.

Language politeness is considered one of the defining characteristics of Indonesian society. In the age of global communication and computing, moderate politeness, centered on politeness of opinion, politeness in deliberation, and politeness in respecting the opinions of others, is an important factor. However, progressive politeness in Urban Muhammadiyah Primary School is becoming a growing concern that requires special attention. The purpose of this study was to examine this violation in the interactions between learners, teachers, and principals in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data were collected from interviews, observations, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with classroom teachers, principals, and learners, while observations were recorded through field notes and reflections. Moreover, audio-visual documentation in the form of photographs, videos, and recordings during the learning processes and interactions between learners or teachers were utilized. Data collection was based on four strategies: observation, interview, documents, and audio-visual, as outlined in Creswell's theory. Validity was examined using data triangulation, member checking, prolonged duration of data collection, repeated observations in the study location, and peer examination. The findings of the study include a) There was a violation of the politeness through bullying, body shaming, and verbal abuse, which violated the principles of appreciation and sympathy. b) Urban Muhammadiyah Primary School helped promote language politeness through several methods, including performing Duha prayers, morning recitation with assistance from the teacher and principal, and teacher role modelling by arriving at school at 06.15 and reciting Asmaul Husna together. Importantly, these efforts positively affected the politeness of the learners. This study provides an update on the assistance given to learners to address impoliteness, including Duha prayers, morning recitation, and memorization of Al-Qur'an and Asmaul Husna assisted by teachers. Moreover, the school has a well-equipped School Health Unit (SHU) to promote a healthy, clean, disciplined, and polite lifestyle. Appeals are made through persuasive and affectionate books and direct assistance from teachers as role models. The study of the Quran and Asmaul Husna demonstrates children's moderate politeness in expressing their opinions. The agreement to develop a joint discipline demonstrates the children's moderate politeness in deliberation.

Language politeness as one of the characteristics of Indonesian society. Unfortunately there is a disobey rule toward the language politeness of Urban Elementary Schools learners and getting special attention. The disobey rule in the interaction of learners among peers, teacherss and principalss in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This research is a qualitative research approach with the research strategy focusing on case study; single-case design. The data sources in this research are taken from the result of interviews, observations and documentation. The interviews is done to classroom teachers, principals and learners. observations done by creating filed notes and reflection during the processes of data collection. In addition, Audio-visual documentation is in the form of photograph, videotape, and recordings during the learning processes and interaction from learners or teachers. Data collection are collected by theory from Creswell which used four strategies; observations, interviews, documents and audio-visual. Data validity using data triangulation, member checking, long time duration and repeated observations in the research location and peer examination. The finding of the research are as follow: a) there found a disobey of Indonesian language politeness principle in Urban Elementary School in Yogyakarta, Indonesia; maxim violation of appreciation and sympathy in the form of bullying, body shaming and verbal violation. the assistance of language politeness in Muhamadiyah Elementary School, Yogyakarta, Indonesia through the habit of Sholat Dhuha Berjamaah, morning recitation with the assistance from teachers and principals, teachers role modelling by departing to school at 06.15 and the recitation of asmaul husna together which has a cheerful impact toward the politeness of learners. This research is applied as the policy guidelines of Elementary School curriculum which is oriented to the language politeness and form of assistance to impoliteness done by the learners.
