Abstract: SQUAMOSA-PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-LIKE (SPL) genes encode plant-specific transcription factors which have been found to be conserved in green plants lineage. SPL proteins are important regulators of diverse plant developmental processes in bryophytes and vascular plants.
