Comparative assessment of the clinical efficacy of various amlodipine isomers in 1st and 2nd degree arterial hypertension patients

Abstract: Objective: The paper presents the results of clinical trials of medications based on S-amlodipine and S/R-amlodipine. Materials and methods: A total of 140 patients diagnosed with arterial hypertension of I and II degree were included into study, in particular, 70 patients with 1st degree and another 70 patients with 2nd degree hypertensive disease. A group consisted of 80 male (57%) and 60 female patients (43%) aged from 45 to 73 years. The average age of the examined patients was 62.1±5.8 years. Durati… Show more

“…Amlodipine isdrug of choice for hypertension treatment for a wide range of age categories and most often used due to its prolonged anti-hypertensive effect. 10 The pathogenesis of LDE is due to persistent activation of CD8 autocytotoxic T lymphocytes against epidermal cells. The cells which are primed from previous antigens persist at mucosal site as well and cause mucosal damage.…”

“…Later, the efficacy and safety of racemic AML was studied on hypertensive patients [ 18 ]. Recently, Ermakov and Pashanova published a comparative study, providing an efficacy assessment of racemic AML vs. the ( S )-(−)-enantiopure [ 19 ]. In addition, analytical studies on enantiopurity assays and impurity tests of amlodipine in pharmaceutical formulations have been performed [ 20 , 21 ].…”
