This study aims to explore the factors influencing the adoption of e-learning platforms in biology education and examine the impact of online learning on students’ performance. This study investigates the relationships between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude toward e-learning, flexibility, content quality, and students’ behavioral intention to adopt e-learning activities. A mixed-methods approach was employed consisting of two phases: a questionnaire survey with structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze data and an experiment with an independent sample t-test to assess the impact of online learning on student performance. Findings disclosed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude toward e-learning, flexibility, and content quality positively impacted students’ behavioral intention to adopt e-learning and their performance. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the factors influencing e-learning adoption in biology education. Practical recommendations are provided for educators, instructional designers, and policymakers to facilitate the implementation of e-learning platforms in biology education. These recommendations include promoting the perceived usefulness and ease of use of e-learning platforms, fostering a positive attitude toward e-learning, enhancing flexibility, ensuring high-quality content, providing training and support for educators, and considering the needs of students with disabilities. IntroductionThis study aims to investigate the impact of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) course on cognitive skills (i.e., Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, Logical Reasoning, Creativity, and Decision-Making) in the context of solving geometric construction problems.MethodsThe research utilized a quasi-experimental design involving a control group and an experimental group to assess the effects of the PBL intervention. Cognitive skills were measured using a custom-designed questionnaire. Additionally, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed in a subsequent phase to scrutinize the causal interrelationships among these cognitive skills.ResultsIn the initial phase, the findings revealed that the PBL intervention had a statistically significant positive impact on problem-solving and creativity skills. However, the effects on critical thinking, logical reasoning, and decision-making skills did not reach statistical significance. In the subsequent phase employing SEM, the analysis demonstrated significant positive relationships, particularly between critical thinking and problem-solving, critical thinking and logical reasoning, logical reasoning and problem-solving, and logical reasoning and creativity. Notably, creativity also exhibited a significant positive effect on problem-solving.DiscussionThis study underscores the nuanced impact of PBL on different cognitive skills, with clear enhancements observed in problem-solving and creativity. However, the study suggests that the effects may not be uniform across all cognitive skills. These findings offer valuable insights for educators and curriculum designers, emphasizing the need for tailored approaches when integrating PBL to foster cognitive skill development.

The subject of stimulating employees toward digital transformation has always been one of the most significant topics, attracting the interests of scientists and decision-makers. This study analyzes the impact of critical factors, including self-efficacy, attitude, leadership, and employee characteristics on employee readiness for digital transformation and job performance. The variables were selected based on the extended theory of planned behavior and personal resource adaption models. To achieve the research objective, partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed. Data were collected from a survey of 302 employees of SMEs in Vietnam. Research findings showed that employees attitude (β = 0.1148; p &lt; 0.05), self-efficacy (β = 0.3737; p &lt; 0.05), and characteristics (β = 0.3328; p &lt; 0.05) affected their readiness for digital transformation. Employees self-efficacy and characteristics also demonstrated direct impacts on job performance. Meanwhile, leadership showed no direct impact (p = 0.6430) but an indirect impact on job performance through readiness (β = 0.1360, p &lt; 0.05). Additionally, among the factors, employee readiness is the most substantial predictor of job performance (β = 0.5152). The findings can benefit Vietnamese SME managers and policymakers, as they can better understand employees and develop effective strategies and measures to promote employee readiness and job performance in a digital transformation context.
