Comparative Study of Imputation Algorithms Applied to the Prediction of Student Performance

Abstract: Student performance and its evaluation remain a serious challenge for education systems. Frequently, the recording and processing of students’ scores in a specific curriculum have several flaws for various reasons. In this context, the absence of data from some of the student scores undermines the efficiency of any future analysis carried out in order to reach conclusions. When this is the case, missing data imputation algorithms are needed. These algorithms are capable of substituting, with a high level of ac… Show more

“…Examining a vast amount of educational data and extract their impacts on students' performances is closely related to educational data mining (EDM) and machine learning (ML) algorithms. Generally speaking, EDM is a set of data mining methods that tries to extract hidden and valuable information from educational data to expand our understanding of students' performance and enhance the learning process [3,4].…”

“…Además son numerosos los trabajos en los que se trata de valorar el rendimiento, como paso previo a la aplicación de técnicas de innovación, como muestra de ello se tienen los trabajos (López-Vázquez et al, 2015), (Crespo-Turrado et al, 2016), (Jove, Blanco-Rodríguez, et al, 2018), (Alaiz-Moretón et al, 2019), (Crespo-Turrado et al, 2020), (Jove et al, 2019), .…”
