“…Imaging with technetium‐labelled anti‐leukocyte antibodies has high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of orthopaedic infections, and is low in cost, non‐invasive and rapid [6,13]. LeukoScan is used for imaging inflammation in vivo .…”

“…This may be partly the result of small or single-patient samples, or patients with bone and soft-tissue infections, endoprostheses, metal implants, or spine and pelvis changes were included in the studies. 3,5,9,19,[21][22][23][24][25] In the current retrospective study, a high sensitivity of 95% was obtained for 20 of 30 true-positive findings, in 6 of 30 true-negative findings, a relatively high specificity of 67%, and a high diagnostic 19 who reported a sensitivity of 88% and 100%, a specificity of 75%, and a diagnostic accuracy of 80%. The current study showed a false-positive result in 3 of the 30 patients.…”

“…Several new agents for imaging inflammation that have been reported recently are not associated with the problem of simultaneous uptake in bone marrow, such as radiolabeled anti-E-selectin, 20,21 Tc-99m-labeled ciprofloxacin, 22 Tc-99m sulesomab 23,24 and other antigranulocyte antibodies, 25 polyclonal human immunoglobulin, 26 and Tc-99m-labeled interleukin-8. 27 Nevertheless, leukocyte scintigraphy remains the gold standard, and so attempts to consolidate its diagnostic accuracy are worthwhile.…”
