Comparative study on the lateral run-out of friction surfaces measurement of brake discs using a brake roller tester and a dial gauge

Abstract: Abstract. Brake system diagnosis is one of the most common and necessary technical operations applied to the car, regardless of its type and operating phases. Measuring the diagnostic parameters on a roller brake tester is a fast operation with no disassembly necessary. Measuring the run-out of friction surfaces of brake discs with a dial gauge is an action that requires more extensive preparatory operations but it offers a high accuracy of the results. The paper aims to analyze the correlation between the dia… Show more

“…Using a roller stand, Toma M, et al, in the study [3], analyzes the effects of shoulder wear (lateral wear on the surface of the brake disc). A similar type of analysis was used for the current study, being the identification of some methods of analysis of wear starting from the results provided by the brake stand.…”

“…The wear of friction components of the brake system, such as brake pads and discs, has a significant effect on the efficiency of the brake system, which is manifested in the stationary tests of the brake system (Mohammed et al, 2023). As a result of the significant wear of brake's components, there is a decrease in braking forces manifested in the tests of the brake system using a roller brake tester (Toma et al, 2017).…”
