“…The aetiology of TASS is relatively broad and may include problems involving irrigating solutions, such as Balanced Saline Solution (BSS) and any additives included. [5][6][7][8][9] Highest number of cases of PCO were in patients with non-square edge lenses as compared to square edge lens and foldable lens. The reason for low incidence of PCO in square edge and foldable lenses is because of the unique IOL design.…”

“…Hatta intraoküler yapılar üzerine toksik etkileri olabileceği gösterilmiştir. Edel Hauser ve arkadaşları yaptıkları bir çalışmada izotonik salin solüsyo-nunun intraoküler uygulamada 1 saat içerisinde endotel hasarı oluşturduğunu göstermişlerdir (10,11). Nazal mukozal lavaj uygulamaları da Ringer laktat solüsyonunun, izotonik salin (%0,9 NaCl) solüsyonuna göre siliyer yapıdaki epiteli koruduğu ve siliyer aktiviteyi bozmadığını göster-miştir (1).…”

“…Perfusion fluids should not be toxic to the corneal endothelium, as the use of an unphysiological solution is likely to potentiate any mechanical disruption of the endothelium during the surgical manipulation. A suitable artificial aqueous for prolonged perfusion has been shown by Edelhauser et al (1976) to require a bicarbonated Ringer's solution with added glucose, glutathione, and adenosine (GBR). The same authors suggest that for low volume irrigation of the anterior chamber less favourable fluids such as sodium chloride 09 % or Ringer-lactate solution might be adequate.…”
