Comparison of effective parameters for copper powder production via electrorefining and electrowinning cells and improvement using DOE methods

Abstract: The influences of cupric ion concentration (5-35 g/L), current density (500-2000 A/m 2 ), circulation rate of the electrolyte solution (15-120 mL/min), and temperature (25-60°C) on the physical and chemical properties of copper powders obtained in electrolysis cells were investigated. Two industrial processes, electrorefining (ER) cells with a synthetic electrolyte and electrowinning (EW) cells with an original solution of copper mineral leaching, were utilized to produce copper powders. Finally, the statistic… Show more

“…Powder metallurgy is usually employed to produce small sized copper-based parts that are used in electrical switches, contacter components, connectors, heatsinks, and brushes and is widely used in electronic packaging industry [15,[27][28][29][30][31]. It is highly possible to produce components from Cu-Ti alloys through a powder metallurgical route.…”

“…The main and interaction effects have been analyzed by Taguchi design of experiment to find out the effect of carbon fiber, load and speed of sliding and their percentage contribution on wear parameters of Al/Csf composite. The similar studies on wear properties using the design of experiment method were conducted with interesting and applicable results [13,14]. Friction and wear behavior of the developed composites was discussed.…”

“…the solution to this problem may be related to modification of the electrolyte composition or the physical parameters of the electrodeposition process. in the scientific literature, the influence of current density, electrolyte composition, and concentration [13][14][15][16] on the efficiency of the electrolysis process has been considered. it is also well known, that the temperature and mixing of the solution also affect the kinetics of chemical and electrochemical reactions, which is confirmed by a literature review [14].…”
