“…Results of the present study were similar to the findings of Qin et al (2013) , who reported that the oviposition intervals of geese were about 48 h. The average clutch length of Zhedong white geese were approximately 14.07 d, significantly shorter than Hungarian geese (19.15 d) ( F ( df ) = 6.49(2), P = 0.003), and the pause length between clutches in Hungarian geese and Sichuan white geese were shorter than Zhedong white geese ( F ( df ) = 110.53(2), P < 0.001; Table 1 ). Zhedong white geese displayed strong broody behavior, which resulted in longer the pause length between clutches ( Yao et al, 2019 ).…”

“…This may be explained by the fact that by the end of the breeding–laying period some geese created natural nests. In chickens [ 32 ] and geese [ 35 ], incubation behaviour is related to plasma PRL elevation. Contrary to presented results, in long-day breeding geese Yang et al [ 14 ] observed that PRL level was the highest during the peak of egg production.…”

“…Xupu goose, an excellent breed in Hunan province, has excellent performance on fattening and liver production, therefore, is of high economic value ( Dai et al, 2016 ). However, the annual egg production by Xupu goose is only 30 eggs as compared with Huoyan goose (120 eggs/year) and Sichuan goose (70 eggs/year) ( Yao et al, 2019 ). The high broodiness of the Xupu goose significantly decreases the economic benefits of its breeding.…”
