“…Throughout its history, it has become a globally popular sport that engages many people regardless of age, gender, race, or continent in which they live (Narazaki, Berg, Stergiou, & Chen, 2009;Masanovic, 2018). However, as a professional sport, basketball is characterized by the complexity and high tempo of the game (Dogan & Ersoz, 2019), as well as the dynamism, variability, and atypicality of the game characterized by rapid continuous reactions in all stages of the match (Trninic, Perica, & Dizdar, 1999;Saavedra et al, 2018). Such a complex activity can be realized only with the involvement of several factors.…”

“…In general, elite athletes have high-volume and high-intensity training loads, reaching 15 h/weeks of training (7). Since amino acid oxidation contributes ∼5% of total energy expenditure during exercise (8), the exercise-induced oxidative loss of amino acids increases with increased training volume.…”

“…When choosing a sport discipline, body constitution plays a signifi cant role (Bjelica & Fratric, 2011). All competitive sports practiced at a higher level require that the body performs at the optimal biomechanical and physiological capacity (Saavedra et al, 2018). Logically, a junior handball player competing in the strongest leagues in his age group is expected to have the optimal physical requirements of the sport in question (Masanovic, 2018).…”
