“…Caution is therefore advised when interpreting non‐representative biopsies from women with TZ3. To improve the visualization of the TZ and a potential lesion, a few trials have suggested pre‐colposcopic treatment with estrogen or misoprostol 30–32 . Unfortunately, these studies suffer from a small sample size, and future well‐conducted clinical trials are therefore needed to clarify the potential impact of this treatment, including the appropriate dose and duration of treatment.…”

“…Conversion of Type 3 TZ to Types 1 or 2 has not been given adequate attention as evident in the limited number studies in the medical literature. Although oral and intravaginal estradiol have also been tried in converting Type 3 TZ to Types 1 or 2 with promising results ( Beniwal et al, 2016 , Saunders et al, 1990 , Piccoli et al, 2008 ), their multi-dose regimen over 5–10 days increases cost and makes compliance difficult ( Aggarwal et al, 2006 ). However, misoprostol is administered in single dose which is an added advantage ( Pergialiotis et al, 2015 ).…”

“…Several investigators recommended cone biopsy in those cases. 5,6 In the present study, we sought to assess the risk of developing high-grade lesions (CIN2þ) among women with low-grade cervical cytology and unsatisfactory colposcopic examination. Additionally, we aimed to identify factors predicting CIN2þ among this cluster of women.…”
