Compilation of Spectroscopic Data of Radium (Ra I and Ra II)

Abstract: Energy levels, wavelengths, lifetimes and hyperfine structure constants for the isotopes of the first and second spectra of radium, Ra I and Ra II have been compiled. Wavelengths and wave numbers are tabulated for 226 Ra and for other Ra isotopes. Isotope shifts and hyperfine structure constants of even and odd-A isotopes of neutral radium atom and singly ionized radium are included. Experimental lifetimes of the states for both neutral and ionic Ra are also added, where available. The information is beneficia… Show more

“…There is a discrepancy between two previously reported values of the 7s 2 S 1/2 → 7p 2 P 3/2 (382 nm) transition frequency in 226 Ra + : 785 722.10(3) GHz [10] * cholliman3@gmail.com and 785 721.670(70) GHz [6], which is included in a compilation of radium spectroscopy data [11]. The former value was determined from a sum of two direct frequency measurements in 226 Ra + of the 7s 2 S 1/2 → 6d 2 D 5/2 and 6d 2 D 5/2 → 7p 2 P 3/2 transitions.…”

“…The experimental searches have been going on for the past 50 years, and the role of theory is not only to provide limits on the fundamental parameters but also to guide the experimentalists to atoms, molecules, and other systems with suitable enhancement factors. Experimentalists need to know (the order of magnitude of) enhancement factors before they set up their apparatus to detect EDM in a new species [2,77]. The present paper is intended to present the calculations of EDMs, carried out with the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock theory, of the superheavy element copernicium.…”
