Activities of the following U.S. government organizations are covered: National Geodetic Survey (NGS), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (AFCRL), Army Engineering Topographic Laboratory (ETL), and the various components of the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA). The DMA components covered include the DMA Topographic Center (DMATC), DMA Aerospace Center (DMAAC), DMAAC Geodetic Survey Squadron (DMAAC/GSS), DMA Inter‐American Geodetic Survey (IAGS), and the U.S. Navy Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO). In addition, activities of universities, state organizations, and private industry were covered when these were of special interest. However, no attempt was made to include all of the voluminous activities of all university and state groups. The bulk of the land gravity taken, after being adjusted to a common datum by the DMAAC, is placed in the U.S. Land Gravity Data Bank of the National Geodetic Survey of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Washington, D.C.).
