Complete mitochondrial genome of Toxabramis houdemeri (Cypriniformes; Cyprinidae) and its phylogenetic analysis

Abstract: Toxabramis houdemeri belongs to the genus Toxabramis in the subfamily of Cultrinae (Cyprinidae). We first determine the complete mitochondrial genome of T. houdemeri in this study. It is 16 618 bp in length, with the base composition on the heavy strand: 30.79% A, 16.61% G, 27.29% C, and 25.31% T. It has the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement, including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a D-loop region. Phylogenetic analysis showed that T. houdemeri was clustered into one… Show more

“…Gene arrangement of this genome was identical to that of those in typical fishes and most genes were encoded by the heavy strand (H-strand), except for ND6 and eight tRNA genes (Inoue et al 2001;Wang et al 2017). Overall base composition values for the mitochondrial genome were 28.04%, 29.82%, 16.75%, and 25.39% for A, C, G, and T, respectively.…”

“…Gene arrangement of this genome is identical to that of other common fishes, and most genes in this genome are encoded by the heavy strand (H-strand), except for ND6 and eight tRNA genes (Boore 1999 ; Wang et al. 2017 ; Gong et al. 2017 ).…”

“…The circular mitogenome of G. giuris (GenBank accession number NC_036674) is 16,596 bp in length. It has the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement (Wang et al 2017) and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and a control region (D-loop). Among these genes, ND6, tRNA-Gln, tRNA-Ala, tRNA-Asn, tRNA-Cys, tRNA-Tyr, tRNA-Ser (UCA) , tRNA-Glu, and tRNA-Pro are located on the light strand, while all of the remaining genes are located on the heavy strand.…”
