Complete mitochondrial genome of the Rhus gall aphid Schlechtendalia chinensis (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Eriosomatinae)

Abstract: We sequenced the first complete mitochondrial genome for the aphid subfamily, Eriosomatinae, from a Rhus gall aphid, Schlechtendalia chinensis . The mitogenome of S. chinensis is 16,047  bp in length with a high A + T content of 84.2% and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 24 tRNA genes including two extra tRNA Phe , two rRNA genes, a repeat region, and a control region. All protein-coding genes have a… Show more

“…The total length of P. bambucicola mitogenome is 16,631 bp, longer than majority of published aphid mitogenomes. The nucleotide composition is typically A þ T biased (85.1%) with similar patterns also found in other aphids (Wang et al 2015;Ren et al 2016;Ren and Wen 2017;Chen et al 2019;Hong et al 2019;Voronova et al 2019). The mitogenome contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes (tRNAs), two rRNA genes (rRNAs), and one control region.…”

“…It contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a noncoding AT-rich region. Gene order was conserved and identical to that of Drosophila yakuba and to most other previously sequenced Aphididae (Thao et al 2004;Ren et al 2016;Li et al 2017;Chen et al 2019). The nucleotide composition of the mitogenome was biased toward A and T, with 81.8% of A þ T content (A 45.1%, T 38.9%, C 10.2%, G 5.8%).…”

“…Most mitochondrial genes were encoded on the majority strand except for four PCGs, two rRNA genes, and eight tRNA genes. The gene order of A. aurantii was highly conserved and identical to most other previously sequenced Aphididae (Thao et al 2004;Ren et al 2016;Li et al 2017;Chen et al 2019). The overall base composition was A (44.7%), T (38.8%), C (10.6%), and G (5.9%), with an AT content of 83.5%, which was consistent with most mitochondrial genomes.…”
