Complex approach to monitoring athletes in the scope of overtraining prevention

Abstract: The article introduces the issue of monitoring intensively training athletes who wish to avoid overtraining and want their training to be as effective as possible. The current definitions of overreaching and overtraining are addressed, together with the summary of causes, development and prevention of such conditions. The focus of the article is on the overview of relevant diagnostic methods including the latest non-invasive biochemical methods. The complex approach to the selection of psychological and physio… Show more

“…However, Savioli et al (2018) reported in their review article that psychological indicators of overtraining can often be identified earlier than the relevant physiological changes associated with NFOR/OT when training overload and inadequate rest are present. Thus, in practice, regular monitoring of the adaptation of the athlete’s organism to training load should not be implemented only through relevant physiological indicators, but a comprehensive approach should be emphasized in monitoring the onset and development of NFOR/OT and appropriate psychological indicators should be used to the maximum extent possible (Bernacikova et al, 2019). Thus, the results of the present study may have significant application potential for clinical practice, especially in the area of continuous monitoring of the level of identified indicators, which can serve as a starting point for diagnosis and prevention of the development of overtraining syndrome.…”

“…Given the adaptive processes that occur in the body, this occurs at the level of certain functional stresses in various systems and organs of the body (Nicolò et al, 2020). Of course, the modern focus of medicine on the evidence of certain signs of conditions and diseases significantly increases the requirements for the search and further consideration of a number of functional parameters of the body's activity (Bernaciková et al, 2019). Standardization of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods significantly increases the efficiency of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation (Pinna et al, 2017), but has certain problems regarding a specific person.…”
