263001, U ttar Pradesh, India ABSTRACT.-Tanacetum nubigenum (Compositae) is a high altitude herb of Kumaon Himalayan Glaciers. Traditionally it is best used as an herbal perfume in the region. Two new alkane hydroxyketones: 22-hydroxy octacosan-25-one, 24-hydroxytricontan-27-one along with tetracosanoic acid, hexacosanoic acid, ß-sitisterol and sitosterol^-D-glucoside have been isolated from its petroleum ether extract and identified by chemical and ir, 'H nmr and ms methods.
