“…In this meta‐analysis, written informed consent was obtained from all the participants in the included studies, and all visible lesions were removed during colonoscopy. Some of the included studies in our meta‐analysis [6,15‐16,23‐26] reported that CTC performed well in patients at increased risk for CRC, and there were no complications or serious adverse events recorded in relation to either the CTC preparation or examination. However, others [7,17,22] reported that some participants who underwent CTC had some side effects, such as headache, nausea, vomiting, cramps, dizziness, palpitations etc.…”

“…These results are similar to those reported by Pineau et al [ 22 ], Laghi et al [ 15 ], and Hoppe et al [ 26 ]. Additionally, Chaparro Sánchez et al [ 27 ] found that the sensitivity of CTC for the detection of colorectal lesions was highly variable and dependent on the lesion size: sensitivity was greater for larger lesions and considerably lower for lesions <5 mm. Flat lesions are difficult to detect with CTC because the conspicuity of flat lesions on three-dimensional endoluminal imaging is diminished, frequently resulting in false-negative findings [ 14 ].…”
