Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Requiring Immersive Presence (CSCLIP): An Introduction

Abstract: The dramatic increase in distance learning (DL) enrollments in higher education is likely to continue. However, research on DL that includes psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills is virtually non-existent. Indeed, DL for psychomotor skills has been viewed as impossible. Laboratory coursework, which we define as including the acquisition of psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills, has become a limiting factor in the growth of DL. What is needed is a synergistic integration of technologies and Human-… Show more

“…Past studies in the field of online advertisement have found a positive effect of vividness over the effectiveness of online advertisement (Cvijikj and Michahelles, 2013). Vividness can be achieved by the inclusion of dynamic animations (contrasting) colors, pictures (Cho et al , 2002) or video (Romano et al , 2005). That is, it examines the type and nature of the information posted on the site.…”

“…Its application in the area of entrepreneurship requires rigorous study based on the existing theoretical contributions (Martins and Kellermanns, 2004). Hence, this paper introduces the simulation environment as a key element to analyze conflict and entrepreneurial attitude, demonstrating the considerable scope that exists for improving and managing such attitudes through the use of computer supported cooperative learning tools in a simulation experience (Romano et al , 2005). The study is structured as follows: first, we present the theory and hypotheses.…”

“…The use of simulators in teaching firm management has been the subject of numerous studies (see, among others, Curry and Moutinho, 1992; Moratis et al , 2006; Miles et al , 1986; Faria, 2001; Jiwa et al , 2005). As computer‐supported cooperative learning tools (Romano et al , 2005), simulators enable decision making in an environment that simulates real environments. They are thus useful for developing and strengthening managerial abilities.…”

“…E-learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching, and it is an effective means to implement the learning processes on the Internet (Uden et al, 2007). Many e-learning systems such as educational case library (Kanfer et al, 2000), syllabus generator system (Carchiolo et al, 2007), distance learning administrative system (Romano et al, 2005) and student field experience learning tracking system (Costa and Silva, 2010) have been used to help educators improve their teaching and to help students achieve their learning objectives and needs.…”
